Gegege no Kitaro

Through the portal, past the Torii gate, and there they are. The Yokai village is a bustle of strange and unusual entities, living life as they always have -- here, a Karakasa-obake takes out its trash, there a water weasel plays with his kids. A group of Hitotsume-Kozo -- bald-headed, one-eyed children -- chase each other gleefully. It's a scene straight out of classical Japan -- if classical Japan were occupied entirely by monsters and ghosts, anyway.

Gegege no Kitaro, champion of human and yokai alike, looks upwards at the one that would normally be his father sitting on his head. "[This is it, Rae. The Yokai village. I live a little further out, but as long as we're here, we may as well visit Sunakake Baba and Konake Jijii, eh?]"

And it's here that a little problem occurs. The Nexus translates for Kitaro. Not so much here. What sounds fine to Kitaro undoubtedly sounds like Japanese moonspeak to Rae. Hmm.
